115 Days

There are only two things that can be assumed from an extremely neglected blog: either the blogger has a life that's too full to have blogging at the top of her priority list, or her life is just simply bland and she has nothing to blog about. I can assure you it's the former reason for me. Life has been so busy...so sweetly, satisfyingly busy...that I haven't blogged since I was planning a wedding to the man who's now been my husband for 115 days. I shouldn't even say life has been busy. It has been very full, but Warren and I have made great effort to keep the unnecessary busyness out of our life. We don't want to be normal Americans. Ever since our wedding on May 7th we have tried to live our life "on purpose," which means managing our schedule to include not having a schedule on a regular basis. I'm an accomplishment-driven person so this has taken some adjusting for me. I love it, and all day long my days are more relaxed when I know there's not a schedule to keep in the evening. Surprisingly, the blog made its way to the top of the no-schedule schedule today, and that's why I'm here blogging. Of course, since I've been married 115 days now, I had to change the url so this is the first post on the new blog that includes my new name and my new husband. I wish I could describe how outstanding the past 115 days have been. Marriage is simply the greatest thing God ever thought of.

My husband, Warren, is a horse trainer (and an extraordinarily talented one). He has a brand for his horses that's a very creative OF with an arrow through it, and it stands for "Only Through Faith." If (I say "when") Warren makes it big in the horse shows (cutting, particularly), he wants to have a brand that stands for something. Someday we hope to have a ranch called Only Through Faith. For now it's our motto and thus I had to include it in the header of our new blog.

Life for the past 115 days has been different than anything I've ever experienced, not only because of being married but also because I'm now in charge of my own house for the first time, I don't travel 35 weeks a year, I'm alone 8 hours a day (that was a shock after living with 10 people most of my life) and I live 90 miles from my family. Sometimes I miss people a lot. Getting married and moving away hasn't always been an easy adjustment from the fast-paced, on-the-go life I used to live surrounded by people constantly. There have been a lot of changes, but in spite of them I'm so thankful that God had this change up His sleeve my entire life. I don't think I could hold back a huge surprise from my child for as long as God held out on giving this one to me. I think He's been smiling about it for years with that mysterious twinkle in His eye like people get when there's a surprise birthday party about to catch you off-guard. In any case, receiving the gift of 115 days of marriage has been the most delightful thing I've ever done. Thanks, God.

I intend to post a bunch of wedding pictures soon, but for now Warren will be home in thirty minutes and we have horses to ride! If you'd like, you can leave a comment on this new blog so I know that people have found it. I hope you have a wonderful evening, and that it's as un-scheduled as possible.

  1. It's been 115 days already?? Time has been flying! It is an encouragement for me because 94 days from now, I will be becoming Mrs. Lucas Selfridge, and I cannot wait!

The time seems to simultaneously crawl and fly.

The vows that you and Warren shared with each other, and everyone else, were so inspiring and thought-provoking. I want to live out my love on purpose, honoring my husband-to-be and always building him up with my words, deeds and prayers.

Thank you for this little peek into your slice of Heaven on Earth!
